RULE CHANGES 2

We have made some further changes to the rules:

1. The Offensive Ball
We have changed from a Gridiron football, to a Gaelic football. The spherical shape makes for easier handling and more consistent rebounds of targets and the ground. This increases the speed and overall flow of the game.

2. The Tower
We changed the tower from a cylinder to a three sided pole and wire structure. We did this for two reasons. First, this allows spectators and officials to see Tower Strikes from the opposite side. Second, this cost less and is much more easy to set up, making the official game more accessible to more people.

3. The Edge Gate
We changed the Edge target to an Edge Gate with a wire panel. This Edge Gate will allow the ball to rebound off the target back into play and result in less game stoppages.

4. Core Exclusion
To reduce confusion we have made the Core an outright player exclusion zone. Players will no longer be allowed to cut through and camp in the Core. If a player without the ball enters the Core inadvertently they they must enter back into the Action Ring without delay.

5. Field Dimensions
The Core has been reduced from 30 feet in diameter to 20 feet. The Action Ring has been increased from 50 feet deep to 60 feet deep. A third area know as the Edge Ring been added. The Edge Ring is a 5 foot deep ring located outside the Action Ring. The Edge Ring like the core is a player exclusion zone. The Edge Gates are located on the outside edge of the Edge ring. These changes were made to increase the action ring play area while increasing rebounding and reducing dead balls in the core. Also, this reduces camping, spamming, and goal tending on the Edge Gates.

6. Point Values
We have made the following changes to point values: The throwing Tower Strike has changed from 6 points to 2 points. The Gate Strike has changed from 4 points to 1 point. Wedge Loss has changed from -2 points to -1 point. These changes make fouling less advantageous. Now committing a 1 point foul to stop a 1 point score is simply not worth breaking the rules.

7. Drop Punt Bonus
Our testing showed that the drop punt mandate on Edge Gate strikes was difficult for many players, so we modified the rule. Kicking passes and scores still require a drop punt, but scoring on the Edge Gate is allowed via throw. To reward the skill of the drop punt and make it an important part of the game, we have created a 1 point bonus for Tower Strikes and Gate Strikes achieved via drop punt.

Summery
We realize this is a lot of changes, but we believe each one was necessary and made the game better. We also believe that making the changes before public exhibitions was the right call.
